Ahead of our cruise around South-America we stayed 2.5 days in Rio. In order to get the maxium out of our short stay we decided to book a private guide for the first day. The big advantage to book a private guide is that you decide when to start or what to see. On Luis' advice we started the day very early to avoid the crowd. He met us on time at our Hotel and we were driving all day in his very comfortable and a/c car. He first drove us to Concorvado. Then we visited the Mirador Santa Marta, the Escadaria Selaron with a quick stop in the old center. Very interesting was his recommendation to drive over to Niteroi (Oscar Niemeyer). At the end of the day we visited the Sugarloaf Mountain (Zuckerhut). All in all we spent 8 hours with Luis on this fantastic tour. He speaks fluent english. We really can recommend Luis and I can assure everybody that you will not regret such a day.

During my trip to an International Conference in Rio de Janeiro my South African agent booked mr Darin to pick me up from the Airport. Mr Darin is up to date on every aspect of Brazil as well as current international affairs. As you might know, English is a bit of a challenge in South America (including Brazil). Mr Darin is 100% fluent in various languages as he also lived in the States. His english is of extremely high standard and his general knowledge of the city and country really impressed me! (He is a bit of a walking Wikipedia...)

In Rio I called Luis Claudio Da Rin. He was really kind, He gave me a city tour of about 6 to 7 hours, we went to beautiful places and in the end he encouraged me to take a hang gliding tandem flight. It was the most exciting experience I ever had.

I knew Luis when I visited Rio in October 2008 and that wasn't my first visit there. I work as a tour leader and this time I came to Rio with a group of 120 persons as a head of tour leaders. The program was very intensive: all of Rio's highlights + different splendid restaurants for lunch and dinner + changing constantly means of transportation.

Luis was the coordinator of the team of local tour guides for my group. I must emphasize that Luis managed to organize everything in the most appropriate way and he was very responsible in his work. I could totally trust him. In addition he can give you all the information about Rio that you may need. Not only historical, but also places to go and places not to go.

I did a full day Rio tour in January 2012 with Luis. He picked us up in the morning at the airport and brought us back in the evening. From the beginning he asked us about our special interests and did everything to make us a great day in Rio! He told us a lot about history, culture and the sights in Rio. Perfect English! I never expected to see so many things in just one day and me and my girlfriend immediately fell in love with Rio. The day ended with sundown on the Sugar Loaf!!!

I'm so glad I hired Luis as a private tour guide for my trip to Rio! It made for a great experience in Rio. Luis is a kind and pleasant person, eager to share his knowledge of and experience living in Rio de Janeiro. Luis customized the itinerary based on the sights I was interested in seeing, and even made surprise stops at a market (where we sampled fresh fruit) and beautiful vistas. I really appreciated the opportunity to see so many sights and also the Tijuca forest in just one day, and also get a taste of and learn more about local culture. Luis was our guide for our only full day in Rio and he certainly made sure it would not be forgotten. We were picked up at midday from our hotel as we didn't want an early start. Straight to Corcovado,which was definitely my highlight. He always ensured we had plenty of time for photographs etc and was never hurried.
We all enjoyed his company and knowledge of his home city and he always knew the answers to even the most obscure questions. He took us back to our hotel at 8pm to collect our luggage then on to the airport, which was really convenient.
We can thoroughly recommend booking Luis for your tour, then a visit will be truly memorable. It's a pity we couldn't stay longer.
